Two arrested on crystal meth charges in Carbondale

May 5—A month-long undercover investigation into narcotics sales led to the arrest of two people and the seizure of crystal methamphetamine, city police said.

Shane Eric Wetzel and his girlfriend, Donna Marie Johnson, were arrested Wednesday when investigators served a search warrant at their apartment at 25 1/2 Belmont St., police said.

In addition to almost five ounces of crystal meth, investigators seized nine syringes loaded with the drug, $1,087 in cash, and drug paraphernalia, police said.

Police charged Wetzel, 33, and Johnson, 41, with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, endangering the welfare of children and possession of drug paraphernalia.

They were arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Laura Turlip and held in the Lackawanna County Prison on $25,000 bail each. Their preliminary hearings are Thursday at 9:30 a.m.
