Two arrested for alleged supermarket retail theft

TANNERSVILLE, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Two people were arrested after police say they committed retail theft at a supermarket.

On March 19 officers responded to Weis Market in Tannersville for a retail theft that occurred at 12:40 p.m. The loss prevention officer said that a man and woman entered the store and filled a shopping basket with several household items.

The man exited the store and stood by the entrance to keep them open, allowing the woman to exit with the shopping basket full of items without paying, police stated.

Two accused of over $400 retail theft at T.J. Maxx

The suspects were identified as Frank Trautz, 39, from Scotrun, who police have had prior incidents with, and Kaela Franco, 30, from Saylorsburg.

Trautz was charged with retail theft, theft by unlawful taking, conspiracy to commit retail theft, and receiving stolen property.  Trautz was arraigned and released on $5,000 unsecured bail.

Franco is facing the charges of retail theft, theft by unlawful taking, conspiracy to commit retail theft, and receiving stolen property.

Trautz and Franco are both awaiting preliminary hearings.
