Two Arkansas primary races heading to runoff elections

CRAWFORD COUNTY, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — Two Arkansas primary races are heading to runoff elections later this year.

None of the candidates for Arkansas Supreme Court Chief Justice or Crawford County Justice of the Peace District 5 received a majority vote on Super Tuesday to win the seats.

In Crawford County, the Justice of the Peace for District Five will be decided between Brad Martin and Jon Baker. Martin received 43.89% of the 496 votes cast and Baker received 29.26%.

The runoff for that election will be April 2.

Arkansas State House primary winners

The Arkansas Supreme Court Chief Justice race is heading to a runoff in a very close race
Rhonda Wood will likely face Karen R. Baker in a runoff.

Baker has received 27.18% of the 319,198 votes cast. Wood has received 26.32% of the votes and is ahead of Barbara Womack Webb by around 2,000 votes with 99% reporting.

The runoff election for that race will held on November 5.

The winner of the chief justice race will be the first female to hold the position.
