Two 17-year-old murder suspects captured months after crimes

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Two 17-year-olds wanted for two separate murders were captured by marshals in Memphis on Thursday.

The male teens were not named by authorities because they are juveniles.

One of the suspects was wanted in the death of Marqulo Mason, who was robbed and shot to death in the 2000 block of Philsar Street on Feb. 13. A 19-year-old was also arrested in this crime in early April.

The suspect was wanted on charges of first-degree murder, especially aggravated robbery and aggravated assault. He was taken into custody without incident around 10:30 a.m. at a house in the 1400 block of Roberts Road in South Memphis.

The other suspect was wanted in the death of Cornelius Bennett, who was found shot to death on Dec. 14 in the 1900 block of Third Street.

The juvenile in that case was taken into custody around noon from a house in the 6400 block of Gillespie Road in northeast Memphis. He is charged with first-degree murder and especially aggravated robbery.
