Clooney wasn't the only one arrested for civil disobedience and refusing to leave the area -- he was taken away with his father Nick, Martin Luther King III and several members of Congress.
The hashtag #FREEClooney immediately started to trend in the U.S., as well as the keyword "George Clooney ARRESTED."
ABC News has the video of Clooney's arrest, showing that he spoke to members of the press while he was handcuffed and taken from the scene.
"I've never gotten arrested before," Clooney said with a slight smirk to a reporter. When asked if he knew there was a possibility of this happening, he responded: "No."
