Twitter Users Hurl The Holly After Trump Is Hailed For Bringing ‘Christmas Back’
Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke saluted President Donald Trump on Wednesday night as “the man who brought Christmas back to America.”
That had Twitter users wondering: Just where did Christmas go?
Zinke’s introduction was actually recycled; he made a remarkably similar comment at last year’s tree-lighting ceremony, calling Trump “the man who brought ‘Merry Christmas!’ back to our nation’s capital.”
Neither Christmas nor “Merry Christmas” have ever left.
Yet it has been a talking point for Trump since early in the campaign and one he has mentioned repeatedly ― and often randomly, including in July ― even as president.
Here is some of the reaction to Trump being hailed for saving a holiday that was never in peril:
Ummmm, President Trump was just introduced as the man who brought Christmas back to America. What was I celebrating before 2016?!

"The man who brought Christmas back to America" is THE worst Hallmark Channel holiday movie. https://t.co/wUXsrULpr3

Well then I wonder just WTF I've been celebrating every single year of my 59-year life on December 25. 🤔🙄

Geez I've wasted a sh*t ton of cash buying gifts all these years for nothing!

Things Trump brought back: Nazis. White Supremacists, hate groups, extremists, alt right, armed militias, white nationalists. Trump has nothing whatsoever to do with Christmas as he is clearly a fake Christian who panders to the evangelicals for their votes.

When was Christmas gone? I have always told people Merry Christmas if I knew they celebrated Christmas. Since I'm an adult and know not everyone celebrates Christmas I also say Happy Holidays.
— Lynn Marie (@nlm53) November 29, 2018
Is it still ok to say Happy Holidays?

Yeah, ok. pic.twitter.com/O8crIIXfEw

Wait, what? Where did Christmas go? When was this? I’m so confused. I’d swear we had Christmas last year. Are you sure?

I did not realize Christmas had gone anywhere. As an American and an atheist I have celebrated Christmas for each of my 58 years. I'd say Trump saved Christmas like he saved auto jobs, but Christmas is still here and the auto jobs are going away. Thank you Pres. Trump.

Yeah those Obamas sure destroyed Christmas in America. pic.twitter.com/sJNhQSBlB7

I am 52. I haven't missed a Christmas yet. No one I know has missed a Christmas or an opportunity to celebrate in any way they like. This is just another way for Lord Farquaad to incite his #sheep. Christmas has never been threatened.

Merry Christmas to all the auto workers that lost jobs because of his tariffs. Merry Christmas to the families of victims of gun violence. Merry Christmas to the troops defending our southern border from the dangerous migrant invasion. It's more Bah Humbug than anything. So Sad

I have had Christmas for over 40 plus years ... @POTUS and posse needs to take the blue pill and join on with reality.. no wonder @FLOTUS had all those crazy red trees as her vision of reality... pic.twitter.com/2NhhCaZGV2

I didn’t realize Christmas was missing. Of course I didn’t realize it because it never was missing. The idiocy of this group is astounding.
