On the finale of Boy Band, the top five contestants and their new band name were revealed.
Chance Perez, Michael Connor, Drew Ramos, Brady Tutton, and Sergio Calderon are the new members of In Real Life. Unfortunately, what should have been a celebratory moment quickly became a trending topic on Twitter as fans voiced their disappointment about the lack of diversity in America’s new boy band.

#BoyBand another boy band with no black people?? The rapper over the actual singer? Jaden was the best singer there! Wow. Just wow.

Some users thought that Marcus or Jaden should have made it into the band, but it’s important to point out that In Real Life isn’t completely whitewashed. Still, one user wrote:
no black boys? but they chose sergio who has no talent whatsoever & has a bland personality. lol, predictable. #BoyBand

While America may be unhappy with the new boy band that it voted for, at least there was one moment no one was unhappy about — an onstage reunion of the Backstreet Boys, performing their hit “Everybody (Backstreet’s Back)”.
