Encyclopaedia Britannica has announced that after 244 years of printing its big, thick iconic books it will discontinue the 32-volume printed edition.
“Tragically sad that Encyclopedia Britannica is to end print edition. Digital is merely data, books are joy and beauty,” say Tweeps while adding that “Wikipedia and the Internet just killed 244-year-old Encyclopaedia Britannica.”
Microbloggers are drawing attention to Google’s folded paper homepage on March 14. Google is honoring Japanese origami artist Akira Yoshizawa with an origami-inspired homepage Doodle on what would be his 101st birth anniversary.
Fans of boy band One Direction have randomly declared today “Happy Directioners Day” while others say that “This day isn't the official Directioners Day its the 23rd of july!”
