Twitter explains why Donald Trump isn't brave enough to stop a school shooting
While talking with state governors at the White House this week about school safety, President Trump took shots at Scot Peterson, the former Broward County police officer who resigned last week after video surveillance showed he never entered Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School while 17 students and faculty were being shot down.
Speaking about Peterson, Trump called him “disgusting,” and offered his own solution to the scenario. “I really believe I’d run in there even if I didn’t have a weapon,” he told the crowd.
Immediately following Trump’s remarks, critics expressed skepticism about his statement. But Twitter took the opportunity to mock the president by dredging up an old scenario.
Back in January, Trump was filmed climbing the staircase to board Air Force One, with a giant umbrella in hand. Moments later, his 11-year-old son, Barron, climbed the stairs, followed by first lady Melania Trump. The president failed to offer shelter from the rain to both his son and wife. The internet couldn’t help but point out the irony in Trump’s shooting statement and umbrella action.

Classic behavior of the type of person that would rush in to a school to stop a mass shooter. https://t.co/mi428pIcL9

Trump wouldn’t run into the rain to get Melania an umbrella much less into a school to confront a gunman.

Twitter also pointed out a few other instances where Trump failed to show bravery. Like the time a man nearly rushed the stage during a campaign rally.
Trump said he’d have run in to Parkland High School even without a weapon. I guess he wouldn't want to be reminded of this shining moment of bravery then.. Sure would be a shame if this video went viral. pic.twitter.com/SJC798ykaq

And when he was nearly attacked by a bald eagle on his desk while filming a piece for Time magazine.

And of course, many people pointed out that Trump had dodged the draft several times.
Trump would have "run in there?"
Says the 5-time draft dodger who's never faced a situation of any kind of challenge, ever.
Talk about BS. #ThingsICantAccept#DonaldTrumphttps://t.co/DHLQJPwrrI

Trump couldn't even walk with the rest of the G-7.
He had to ride in a cart.
Oh he can dodge things, like a draft, but run?
Nah.
The only thing Trump can run is his mouth. https://t.co/2itKkQhAeA— Steve Marmel (@Marmel) February 27, 2018
So @realDonaldTrump dodged the Vietnam draft 5 times, but he would’ve run unarmed at the Parklands Florida school massacre? Aye, right… #Trump
