Twitter calls for Sarah Sanders to resign after sharing doctored video of Jim Acosta

Backlash surrounding Wednesday’s fiery press conference with President Trump continues. After CNN reporter Jim Acosta’s White House press pass was revoked Tuesday evening, the press secretary, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, tweeted out what appears to be a doctored video to justify the decision.

The clip, which first appeared on a far-right conspiracy site, Infowars, shows Acosta making a more aggressive chopping motion toward a White House staffer than was actually the case.

Twitter, obviously, was not having it.

One user, who claimed to be a video editor, broke down the doctored clip alongside the original footage to help prove the point. And while some are calling for Sanders to resign, others think there should be legal consequences.

Acosta, who’s had quite the interesting 24 hours, also chimed in:

On Tuesday’s Anderson Cooper 360, Acosta spoke about the incident and the revocation of his press pass.

“It was a pretty surreal experience. I never thought in this country that I wouldn’t be able to go and cover the president of the United States simply because I was trying to ask a question,” Acosta said.
