Twitch gets exclusive Tekken 7 partnership to launch $200,000 Tekken World Tour

Tekken 7 releases worldwide for PS4, Xbox One, and PC on June 2. (Bandai Namco)Twitch and Bandai Namco have announced an exclusive partnership to launch the Tekken World Tour. The season will run for six months from June to November 2017 and has a total prize pool of over $200,000.

Through the global partnership, Twitch will manage Tekken 7 league operations, circuit events, and content. According to a press release, the goal of this partnership is to build an infrastructure that can “sustain long-term growth” of the Tekken franchise.

The Tekken World Tour starts on June 16-18 at the CEO Fighting Game Championships and will be followed by more U.S. events in Orlando, Dallas, Orange (CA), and more. All tournaments will be livestreamed on the official Twitch Tekken channel.

Players can register through each partnered event’s registration pages. CEO 2017’s registration closes in early June, and more details can be found on the website.

“The Fighting Game Community on Twitch features some of our platform’s most vibrant players and fans, with the TEKKEN World Tour created to celebrate their enthusiasm,” said Twitch program manager Richard Thiher.

Tekken 7 is scheduled to release on June 2 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The game comes with a whole host of new characters–check them out in our round-up video below.
