Twisted Cat Outdoors fishing tournament added to Fort Smith St. Patrick’s Day festivities

Twisted Cat Outdoors, a series of catfish tournaments that spans the Mississippi, Missouri and Illinois rivers, is making a stop in Fort Smith for St. Patrick’s Day.

A farmers market, a 5K run, a pub crawl and a street fest and now a fishing tournament are planned for Saturday, March 16, a day ahead of St. Patrick’s Day, which falls on Sunday, March 17. There will be plenty of food, arts and crafts and fun on Saturday downtown, according to a news release from the nonprofit business association 64.6 Downtown.

The Fort Smith Downtown Farmer’s Market is 7 a.m. to noon Saturday at 2nd Street and Garrison Avenue.

The Fort Smith quarter marathon and 5K run will be held from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. along the riverfront paths.

The St. Patrick’s Day pub crawl and scavenger hunt is 10 a.m. Saturday until 2 a.m. Sunday at a number of downtown establishments.

The street festival is 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at S. 7th Street and Parker Avenue.

The Twisted Cat outdoor weigh-in is 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday on S. 7th Street.

In 2024 Twisted Cat had 12 events planned and their grand finale, a $25,000 championship in Helena, Arkansas, according to information on the tournament’s website.
