Australian twins Anna and Lucy share everything – including their fiancé, Ben. “He’s twinning and winning!” they boast. The identical twins are now planning their three-way wedding.

“We’re proud of it. We’re not ashamed of it,” the twins say. “This is our life, and we’re doing what makes us happy.”

They’ve been in a relationship with Ben for five years. Ben himself is a fraternal twin, so, they say, “Ben understands our bond.”

Dermatologist Dr. Sonia Batra comments, “I understand you guys do other things together.” The twins shower and eat together and often talk in synch. They even count calories to make sure their bodies stay as similar as possible, and have had plastic surgery to look more alike. However, they say, Ben can always tell them apart – even on the phone, which their own mother can’t do!

The twins also want to conceive and go through pregnancy at the same time, so that they can share that experience too.

ER Physician Dr. Travis Stork asks, “Is this behavior healthy?” Psychotherapist Dr. Mike Dow explains that Anna and Lucy show a phenomenon common among twins: co-twin dependency. “But this case is a whole new level! I’ve never seen a case where they’re actually sharing a boyfriend.” He is concerned that eventually Ben will inevitably favor one over the other.

“At the end of the day, it’s your life. And as long as you are truly happy, we wish you nothing but a wonderful, happy life,” says Dr. Stork.
