Twin Peaks: watch two new mysterious trailers for David Lynch's revival

Two new teasers for David Lynch's heavily anticipated Twin Peaks revival have arrived for fans to decode.

Both trailers feature events from the first two seasons of the show, with one depicting Kyle MacLachlan's Agent Dale Cooper smashing his head against a mirror – a chilling key moment from the end of the 1991 second season – alongside the tagline “It’s Happening Again”.

The second shows the grim unwrapping of homecoming queen come murder victim Laura Palmer (Sheryl Lee), whose plastic-encased body was discovered in the first episode of the original 1990 series

The first episode of the 18-part new series will be broadcast in the US on Sunday May 21, and will be two hours long.

A large proportion of the original cast, including MacLachlan, Lee, Sherilyn Fenn, James Marshall, Dana Ashbrook and Ray Wise will be reprising their roles, in a new drama set 25 years after Palmer's murder.

The revival will also feature a number of new faces, with high profile new cast members including Naomi Watts, Laura Dern, Amanda Seyfried, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and Michael Cera.

UK night owls will be able to watch along on Sky Atlantic, which will  broadcast the episode in a simulcast on Monday May 22 at 2am, matching the American premiere. For those who prefer to keep more conventional hours, however, it'll also be shown on Tuesday May 23 at 9pm (and Tuesdays at 9pm will then become its regular UK timeslot).
