TVA restoring transmission river towers near Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant

May 6—The Tennessee Valley Authority has begun structural restoration of eight transmission river towers near Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant in Limestone County.

The towers have been in service since 1967. The purpose is to extend the life of the tower foundations by restoring strength to the foundation piles at the base of the structures lost due to corrosion and improving the existing pile concrete encasements.

Construction will take place from now until December 2025. TVA advises the public that they can expect to see divers in the water and large equipment delivered by barge and truck to the construction site near Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant.
