Tuscaloosa police investigate after woman killed in Thursday morning shooting

Tuscaloosa police are investigating a shooting that left one woman dead Thursday morning in Tuscaloosa.

At bout 3 a.m., officers with the Tuscaloosa Police Department responded to a traffic crash in the area of 15th Street and Interstate 359, said Capt. Jack Kennedy of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit.

Kennedy said officers found a woman dead inside the vehicle and they determined that she had been shot.

The Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit was called out to assume the investigation.

After an investigation, a suspect was developed. Kennedy said Ladarious Jaquan Bullock, 25, is in police custody outside of Tuscaloosa County.  Warrants have been obtained for Bullock on a capital murder charge.

No further information was provided and the investigation is ongoing.

Fifteenth Street was briefly closed in both directions Thursday morning between Greensboro Avenue and under the Lurleen Wallace Boulevard overpass bridge as investigators processed the scene.
