Turquoise takeover and Lung Cancer awareness week

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – May 6 – 12 is Turquoise Takeover and Lung Cancer Action Week for the American Lung Association. The week raises awareness for lung caner and inspires people to take action against it.

The week also marks the 10th anniversary of Lung force, a movement that works to ensure less people are diagnosed and people living with the disease live longer. Turquoise is the signature Lung Force color and through the week different places in Albuquerque were illuminated in the color to raise awareness. In order to fight lung cancer it’s important to know some risk factors than can lead to lung cancer. Some risk factors include smoking, exposure to radon gas, second smoke and air pollution.

Lung Force highlights to importance of taking action against lung cancer by providing a few things anyone can do to be proactive; getting screened for lung cancer, testing home for radon, learn latest information about lung cancer, join local events or fundraisers.
