What turkeys! Video shows local officers being chased

BAY VILLAGE, Ohio (WJW) — A routine traffic stop leads to two Bay Village police officers being chased by two wild turkeys. And it was all caught on camera.

It happened this past Saturday morning at the intersection of Bradley Road and Perry Drive.

The officers pulled over a vehicle for speeding.

What will the weather be for the April 8 eclipse?

That’s when you can see the two male turkeys running toward the officers.

Tim Jasinski, a wildlife rehabilitation specialist at the Lake Erie Nature Science Center, said wild turkeys are becoming more comfortable in Ohio suburban environments.

And with mating, season, fast approaching, he says the unlikely scenario was inevitable.

“It’s spring, so the hormones are increasing and raging now,” Jasinski said. “Usually in the situations these turkeys are chasing people, are chasing cars, are habituated people neither being fed, or being accustomed to people closer than they normally would be in the wild.”

Reward offered for safe return of local violinist’s missing instrument

Officer Molly Searles seen in the video is actually a rookie and was being trained by field training office Grant Williams.

Neither of the officers were injured during the Turkey showdown.
