Tupelo High student removed from campus for weapon possession

OXFORD - A Tupelo High School student was removed from campus the morning of Friday, May 10, after being found in possession of a weapon.

School officials received a report that the student had a weapon, they investigated, and THS administrators and local law enforcement “immediately addressed the situation,” according to an email from Gregg Ellis, the Tupelo Public School District’s director of marketing and communications.

The Tupelo Police Department removed the student from campus.

District officials did not confirm what kind of weapon the student was carrying.

“At no point were students and staff in direct danger,” the email from Ellis read.
