Tuesday Outlook: Rain, heavy at times, expected throughout the day in Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) – Showers and storms will be a main feature of this Tuesday with a low risk for Severe Weather this afternoon. Temperatures around uptown have settled in the low to mid-60s, with mountain counties sitting in the low to mid-50s.

Mostly cloudy skies and pockets of moderate to heavy rain will move in throughout the morning. Be on the lookout for patchy fog as well with limited visibility likely for some of our higher elevations.

Winds will be mainly out of the east-southeast this afternoon with morning showers turning into spotty storms. We’ll be under a Marginal Risk for severe weather today with the main threat being damaging winds and large hail.

Highs today will settle into the low 70s which is well below normal for this time of year. Storms taper off this evening while clouds linger and lows dip into the low 60s. We can see another round of storms Wednesday afternoon as temperatures rebound into the upper 70s to near 80 degrees on Wednesday.

Thursday will be dry and warm as high pressure makes way for sunshine and low 80s to start the second half of the work week. This break from wet weather will be brief as intermittent storm chances return to finish off the work week.

We can expect low 80s and afternoon storms to linger through the weekend and early next week.
