TSA checkpoint changes coming to AUS on May 8

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Starting Wednesday, there will be some changes to the security lines at the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.

Those changes are meant to make screening a breeze by consolidating some of the lines, AUS said in a news release.

Checkpoints 1 and 2 East, near the Southwest and Delta entrances, will serve as General Screening.

Checkpoint 2 West, over by American Airlines, will consolidate TSA precheck and clear screening, according to AUS.

As for Checkpoint 3, it is closed for the West Infill and TSA Checkpoint 3 Expansion project. Construction for that project began in fall 2023 and will be complete in spring 2026, according to AUS.

Specific screening services for each checkpoint were provided by AUS. Furthermore, TSA precheck and CLEAR screening are only at one checkpoint, according to AUS.

Checkpoint 1:

  • General Screening

  • Known Crew Member Screening

  • Priority/Premium Screening

  • ADA Screening

Checkpoint 2 East:

  • General Screening

Checkpoint 2 West:

  • TSA PreCheck

  • CLEAR for passengers with PreCheck and CLEAR or CLEAR with no PreCheck

  • ADA Screening for passengers with PreCheck and those using General Screening in need of accessibility accommodations
