If one of your goals this season is to improve your health and your eating habits, here's a sobering statistic: A single strawberry daiquiri has more calories than a McDonald’s double cheeseburger. In fact, many summer cocktails are loaded with calories and sugars, which can pack on the pounds and contribute to tooth decay.

“The alcohol has calories,” says Maxine Siegel, R.D., manager of CR’s food testing department. “And in some cocktails, the mixers are what get you.” You can seek out lower-calorie options or you can stick with wine or beer. A 5-ounce glass of sauvignon blanc has 119 calories. A 12-ounce bottle of beer has about 150 calories; 100 calories or fewer for a light beer.

You can still splurge on summer cocktails every now and then, but you may want choose a lower-calorie alternative. Check out the ones here.
