Trump Supporters, Many Without Masks, Line Up for Pence Event Near Pittsburgh

Supporters of President Donald Trump lined up in Greensburg, Pennsylvania – part of the Pittsburgh metro area – on Thursday, July 30, to attend a “Cops for Trump” campaign event with Vice President Mike Pence.Footage of some of the attendees was shared by Trump’s campaign team, and showed many without face coverings. Public safety officials in Westmoreland County, which includes Greensburg, reported Wednesday that the county had recorded 1,351 coronavirus cases. State officials reported 45 deaths in the county as a result of the virus.The rally took place hours after it was announced that Herman Cain, the former Republican presidential candidate, had died that morning at age 74 after contracting the coronavirus a month earlier.While people gathered along Main Street to see Pence, a “Rally for Black Lives” demonstration was held in the nearby St Clair Park.Prior to the “Cops for Trump” event, Pence’s motorcade was involved in two road collisions – one involving a campaign bus and a dump truck, and a second involving two motorcycle escorts, according to reports.
