WASHINGTON (NEXSTAR) – Donald Trump is getting a break from the courtroom and is back on the campaign trail.

Trump is hitting on an issue top of mind for voters and that is border policy.

He says President Biden has failed to address a record number of migrants at the southern border.

These are the first campaign events for Trump since Super Tuesday and the former president is in two battle ground states, Wisconsin and Michigan.

“It’s a sad shame. Under crooked Joe Biden every state is now a border state,” said Trump.

Trump is blaming President Biden for what he calls carnage and chaos at the southern border.

“Joe Biden’s border blood bath, it’s a bloodbath,” said Trump.

Trump told a small gathering of law enforcement and local leaders that Biden administration policies are putting American citizens in danger, and he blames immigration. He says the latest data shows border crossings hit a record high this January.

“When I left, it was a trickle,” he said.

Trump vowed to get tough if re-elected in November.

“It’s going to end on the day that I take office,” he added.

The White House calls Trump’s “blood bath” remarks divisive.

“We have to denounce any violent rhetoric that we hear, certainly from our leaders, that tears our country apart,” said White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre.

The Biden administration blames Republicans for blocking bipartisan border legislation.

“The president will be the first one to stand up here and say he agrees. The border does need some security capabilities,” National Security Spokesman, John Kirby.

The White House announced President Biden will head to Wisconsin next week. He narrowly won the state over Trump in 2020 and it will be key to his re-election this November.
