Trump promotes faulty White House math on health care

President Trump took to Twitter Monday night to promote the White House campaign to repeal Obamacare, retweeting a graphic that includes a highly erroneous calculation on health care coverage.

“FACT,” read the White House tweet shared by the president. “When #Obamacare was signed, CBO estimated that 23M would be covered in 2017. They were off by 100%. Only 10.3M people are covered.”

Trump detractors and elementary math enthusiasts were quick to point out that if the Congressional Budget Office’s estimate was actually off by 100 percent, nobody would be covered by former President Barack Obama’s signature health care law.

Trump’s night on Twitter wasn’t done. The president then shared a Fox News “bombshell” on the ongoing investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.

This followed a pattern of Trump’s tweets earlier in the day blaming Obama for not doing more to thwart the Kremlin. During the campaign, Trump constantly promoted leaked Democratic emails that allegedly came from Russian hackers.

That tweet came less than an hour after the White House issued a statement warning Syrian President Bashar Assad may be planning another chemical attack on its citizens.

Trump resumed his usual early morning tweeting Tuesday, pointing to the resignations of three CNN reporters over a retracted report on Russia as purported proof the network peddles “fake news.”

The president retweeted a fake logo mocking CNN sent to him by one of his Twitter followers.

Trump then expanded the scope of his “fake news” rant to include most mainstream media organizations — except for Fox News.
