Trump wins Republican nomination in 2020 election race

Donald Trump has won the Republican Party nomination after surpassing the necessary number of delegates.

President Trump now has more than the 1,276 delegates needed after winning primary elections in Florida and Illinois primaries, according to The Associated Press' delegate count.

Going into Tuesday night's elections, Trump had 1,141 delegates and needed 135 more to win.

Democratic primaries are also taking place in Florida and Illinois, as well as Arizona (where a Republican primary is not beind held today.)
