A Trump insider told CNN that Mar-a-lago will be the campaign headquarters should he launch a 2024 bid.
The South Florida club has became his political home base after leaving the White House last year.
Trump is eyeing potential 2024 contenders and wants to flex his dominance within the GOP, per CNN.
Former President Donald Trump has teased a 2024 presidential campaign since he left the White House last year, but in recent weeks he has sought to ward off potential GOP challengers who might take him on, according to CNN.
According to the report, the former president — having noticed several Republicans jockeying for appearances in the early nominating states — informed advisors that he wants to flex his dominance within the party by making an announcement before the 2022 midterm elections to "shore up the donor base" and "take a victory lap" after the electoral contests this fall.
However, unlike the 2016 presidential election — where the former president's campaign team ran a New York-based operation in Trump Tower — the potential 2024 campaign operation will be at his Mar-a-Lago club in South Florida.
But associates in Trump's orbit are still pondering when a 2024 announcement should move forward, per the report.
While two individuals with knowledge of Trump's thinking told CNN that the former president already has office space in Palm Beach for people connected to his Save America PAC, his campaign apparatus will likely once again be close to home.
An individual close to Trump informed CNN that the campaign headquarters will be right where he can view the operation, in his post-presidency political base in the Sunshine State, which is also home to GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis, a potential 2024 contender.
"Mar-a-Lago will be the campaign HQ and he'll rent space onsite to the campaign for an exorbitant rate," the individual told the news network.
