Donald Trump on Monday complained that he won't be able to attend his son Barron's high school graduation because he has to attend his New York criminal trial.

“As you know, my son has graduated from high school, and it looks like the judge will not let me go through the graduation of my son, who's worked very, very hard. He's a great student,” Trump said to reporters outside a New York courtroom. “He's very proud of the fact that he did so well and was looking forward for years to have graduation with his mother and father there.”

The former president also attacked the judge and reiterated his assertion that the trial was politically motivated.

“It looks like the judge isn't going to allow me to escape this scam. It's a scam trial,” Trump said. “It's a political witch hunt.”

Trump is charged with 34 felony counts of falsifying business records as part of a hush money scheme to bury stories that he feared could hurt his presidential campaign in 2016. He is the first former president to ever stand trial on criminal charges.
