Over the years, Donald Trump has been linked to numerous women—three wives, dozens of women who accuse him of inappropriate behavior, and at least two actresses who allege they had affairs with him. But there’s one lesser-known woman who could end up becoming a damning witness in his ongoing criminal trial.

Let us introduce you to Alana Evans, a 47-year-old retired porn actress and close friend of Stormy Daniels. Evans says she was present when Daniels and Trump allegedly had their sexual encounter in Lake Tahoe back in 2006. In fact, she says she was invited to join them, but didn’t end up going. In the following years, as the media began to report on Daniels’ story, Evans was dragged into the media firestorm. And last year, she published an Op-Ed where she vividly described what Daniels told her about what went down on that night 17 years ago. “Trump chased her around his hotel room in his ‘tighty-whities,’ ” wrote Evans.

As Trump undergoes a criminal trial for a hush money payment to Daniels weeks before the 2016 election, Evans could be a corroborating witness to Daniels’ testimony. Here’s everything we know about Evans’ role in the story.

Evans grew up in California and spent her adolescence studying theater, where she developed a love for acting. After getting married, she and her husband became part owners of a strip club and Evans eventually began to perform there. She went on to act in the adult film industry and was a radio host for Playboy Radio. After working for nearly 20 years as a performer, Evans retired in 2016. She’s now president of the Adult Performance Artists Guild.

In her Op-Ed, Evans said she unexpectedly ran into Daniels at a celebrity golf tournament taking place in Lake Tahoe. The two women went out to dinner together, and that’s when Daniels invited Evans to a party with Trump. Evans initially said yes, but later changed her mind, even after receiving a phone call from Daniels—during which, Evans says, Trump himself interjected and said, “Oh come on, Alana, let’s have some fun! Let’s have some fun! Come to the party, we’re waiting for you.” (In 2018, the White House said these allegations were “old recycled reports, which were published and strongly denied prior to the election.”)

Evans also told People that she believed their invitation was for a threesome. “I wasn’t attracted to [Trump]. It’s not like she was calling me with Brad Pitt, Mark Wahlberg. Even Will Ferrell, I would have been there,” she said.

Despite not joining Daniels, Evans texted her friend the following day to check in on her, and Daniels shared “a number of sordid details.”

Given Trump’s power and wealth, Evans said she felt that he posed a risk to women like her, and that feeling drove her to stay back that night in Lake Tahoe. “While I wanted to support my friend, I was nervous about what could happen. Too many movies taught me that sometimes bad things happen to girls like me when we get involved with men like Donald Trump,” she wrote.

Evans stayed in touch with Daniels in the years that followed. In 2018, when Trump was president and news of Daniels’ hush money payment was taking over U.S. headlines, Evans said she realized Daniels was being forced into silence by an NDA. Nonetheless, Evans came forward and talked to the media about her knowledge of what went down between Daniels and Trump.

“I was worried she was upset with me for talking about that night in Tahoe,” wrote Evans in her Rolling Stone Op-Ed. “To my relief, Stormy was supportive and thankful I was talking when she could not!” She said the two women would talk daily, often for hours at a time, finding strength and solace in each other as they both faced incessant threats for coming forward with their stories about Trump.

Evans went on CNN last month and said her friend has been “incredibly honest since Day 1, as soon as she was allowed to be, once they dealt with the NDA issues.” She also expressed relief that the hush money trial would allow the world to finally see the truth. “This is the moment that she has to look him dead in the face and call it out for what it is and finally put her voice to the truth in a way we’ve all been waiting for. … Justice will prevail.”
