Alabama Fish Bar closed after truck crashes into restaurant

Police are investigating a Tuesday crash that closed the Alabama Fish Bar in Over-the-Rhine on Wednesday.

A Nissan Titan crashed through the front entrance of the restaurant at 1601 Race Street not long after it opened at 11 a.m. Tuesday.

A crash report filed by Cincinnati police said the crash caused substantial damage to the building, and a building inspector also responded to the restaurant, which remains closed and boarded up on Wednesday.

The person behind the wheel was charged with operating a vehicle impaired, Sgt. Anthony Mitchell, Cincinnati Police Department spokesman, said following the crash. Court records showed no charges had been filed on Wednesday, but the crash report filed by Cincinnati police said a toxicology report was pending.

Police were not releasing the name of the driver on Tuesday. The Enquirer is not naming the driver because there were no charges in the court records at press time.
