Truck catches fire on I-81 North in Roanoke County

UPDATE: 1:35 P.M. ROANOKE COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — VDOT says I-81 North in Roanoke County is cleared after a truck caught fire on May 21.

UPDATED: 12:10 P.M. ROANOKE COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — A truck caught fire on Interstate 81 North in Roanoke County causing traffic to be at a brief standstill on Tuesday morning.

The Virginia Department of Transportation says the fire occurred at mile marker 139.9, near the construction zone. Traffic is slowly moving, but is backed up for more than five miles.

Firefighters with the Roanoke County Fire and Rescue Department responded and extinguished the flames.

The fire department confirmed no one was hurt.
