LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Members of the Holt Board of Education have officially fired Muhammad El-Amin. He is the former Holt High School boy’s basketball coach who was arrested during a ‘child predator operation’ on May 2.

Muhammad El-Amin was charged in Lansing’s 54-A District Court last week with one count of Child Sexually Abusive Material, and one count of using a computer and the internet to communicate with another to commit a crime, one count of using a computer to commit a crime and one count of accosting a child for immoral purposes. The two computer charges come under different Michigan laws. The first is using a computer to commit a crime. The other is using a computer to communicate with another person to commit a crime. The charge of child sexually abusive material law can be found here. The law for accosting a child for immoral purposes is here.

According to court documents 6 News obtained, multiple law enforcement agencies conducted “several Child Sex Stings” on May 2 and 3. The law enforcement team posted an online ad offering female escorts in Lansing on a prostitution website, according to documents.

Police said El-Amin responded to the ad and used text messages to request oral sex. The police decoy stated they were 15 years old multiple times, according to records.

El-Amin and the decoy agreed on payment for the act of $50 and a pack of White Claw. The decoy set a location to meet, a local business, and again said she was 15 but was able to drive.

At the agreed-upon time, El-Amin showed up with the cash and drinks followed by police taking him into custody.

Investigators said El-Amin “stated he believed the decoy was 15. El-Amin confirmed he was attempting to meet a 15-year-old girl for sexual acts.”

El-Amin is scheduled to be in court on May 17 for a probable cause hearing and May 24 for a preliminary hearing.

Holt Public Schools sent a letter to the school community Friday announcing El-Amin had been placed on administrative leave.
