Troegs Brewing hosts event celebrating those with Down syndrome

HERSHEY, Pa. (WHTM)– Thursday’s hometown heroes are raising money and lifting spirits on World Down Syndrome Day.

Troegs Brewing in Hershey is hosting a celebration called “Ignite a Spark.” The non-profit 3-21 For Life put on the event and rounded up the sponsors.

The group promotes the importance of inclusion in the workplace and highlights the contributions that people with Down syndrome bring to their community.

We try and connect people with resources, especially a new family with a baby with Down syndrome or maybe people who are new to the area and aren’t aware of what’s available in this area,” Lauren Talhell of 3/21 For Life said.

“We have a lot of different parts to our mission, one of the is to advocate and help other parents advocate,” Meg Kutz of 3-21 For Life said. “The other is to educate individuals who come today about Down syndrome, and then really most importantly to celebrate the world Down syndrome.”

The celebrations at Troegs continue until 7 p.m.

The name 3-21 For Life refers to the three copies of the 21st chromosome, which is unique to those with Down syndrome.
