Take a trip over the rainbow: New Philadelphia students present 'The Wizard of Oz'

NEW PHILADELOPHIA − An all-time classic, based on a novel by L. Frank Baum, is coming to New Philadelphia High school.

Join Dorothy as she journeys "Over the Rainbow" in "The Wizard of Oz," presented March 21-23 in Welty Auditorium.

The production will include the score from the 1939 MGM film.

It will feature Sydney Purcell as Dorothy Gale, Irma Wieslander at Toto, Bella Kaput as Aunt Em and Glinda, Jorid Kopp as Uncle Henry and a guard, Abigail Prucha as Zeke and the Lion, Derek Shimek as Hickory and the Tin Man, Garin Gingerich as Hunk and the Scarecrow, Scarling Hersberger-Budavich as Miss Gulch and the Wicked Witch and Colton Walk as Professor Marvel and The Wizard.

Other cast members include Olivia Alexander, Mackenna Armstrong, Evelyn Bowers, Braylon Corbin, Heather Demuth, Kyra Ditto, Macie McMillen, Helen Morris, Baylee Roe, Katelynn Scott, Addy VanArsdalen, Eliza VanArsdalen, Annalise Wherley, and Teagan Zimmerman.

The show is directed by Sarah Spies with musical direction by Kristi Prucha, choreography by Shannon Mitchell, and additional assistance from Cadence Mitchell, Emma Demuth, and Matt Spies.

Show times are 7 p.m. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for students and seniors. Tickets may be purchased at the door or online at our.show/nphs-twoo.
