Trevor Noah Trashes Trump’s Exit from the Paris Climate Agreement
On The Daily Show, Trevor Noah took on President Trump’s decision to remove the United States from the Paris climate agreement, an international accord aimed at curbing the worst effects of climate change.
Noah said, “We all joke about him destroying the world, but this could be it. Can I just say, telling nature to go f*** itself while standing in a garden is a pretty gangster move? I’m not going to lie. The only way that could have been more messed up is if he did it with a polar bear standing in the background.”
The agreement aims to avoid temperatures rising above 2℃, which scientists say would have disastrous effects. Noah commented, “After the Earth’s temperature crosses a certain threshold, we may not be able to go back. It’s like telling your girlfriend her friend is hot. That problem is manmade and irreversible. You can never take it back.”
Now, the United States is one of only three U.N. nations that will not sign onto the agreement, including Nicaragua and Syria. With such consensus, the agreement led to strange bedfellows. Noah mused that even the Palestinians and Israel agree on the accord.
