Traveling truck displaying photos of Israeli hostages makes stop at UIUC

CHAMPAIGN-URBANA, Ill. (WCIA) — A truck with screens depicting Israeli hostages has been making its way around college campuses. On Friday, it made a stop at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

The truck has screens on the side that display photos and information about antisemitism. One screen on the truck reads “Bring all the hostages home,” while others depict photos of hostages in Gaza.

So far, the truck has made its way through Milwaukee and Chicago.

UIUC Rabbi Dovid Tiechtel announced the arrival of the truck on his Facebook page, saying “Look out! Can you spot the truck on campus?”

A WCIA reporter spoke with the truck’s driver.

“People who walk up on me and say, ‘What’s this about?’ and ‘Who is these people?’ and ‘Where are they?’ and ‘What’s going on in Israel and Gaza,'” said driver Jeremiah Smith. “And I just them like, ‘It’s war, it’s very dangerous.'”

Smith added that so far he has also been to DePaul and the University of Chicago.
