Traveling Smithsonian exhibit on history of voting opens this weekend in Sackets Harbor

May 15—SACKETS HARBOR — The traveling exhibit, "Voices and Votes: Democracy in America," presented by the Smithsonian Institution's Museum on Main Street project in cooperation with the Museum Association of New York, is opening to the public Saturday at the Union Hotel.

The exhibit dives into democracy in America, and asks visitors to examine their freedoms and responsibilities within a government that is "of, by and for the people."

Sackets Harbor is one of 12 museums that will each host "Voices and Votes" for six weeks through January 2026. The Sackets Harbor installation will be on display through June 29.

The exhibit is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
