Start the new year off by frolicking in the beautiful waterfalls of Samoa. (Photo: LEMAIRE Stephane/Hemis/Corbis)

The planets are all about you right now, so better get yourself to the first place on the planet to ring in the New Year! Head to serene Samoa, a chain of ten impeccable islands in the South Pacific. There you can swim with giant turtles, explore the islands’ untouched rainforests, or see the awesome moonscape Mt. Matavanu created with its 1911 eruptions. Pluse you can swim beneath any number of waterfalls dotting the islands or pop into the refreshing Piula freshwater cave pool just next to the Fafela Falls, emptying directly into the ocean. Then join the party in the streets of the capitol city of Apia and be the first to welcome in 2015. As they say in Samoan, Ia Manuia Le Tausaga Fou, Capricorn! Happy New Year!

*Your recommended New Year’s astro-resolution is to allow yourself the time you need to do the transformative work at hand. Make a commitment to yourself this year and schedule your personal time into your calendar!

Spend New Years partying on Copacabana Beach. (Photo: Getty Images)

This year, put on a new all white outfit (to symbolize peace) and get yourself to the Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro! Brazilians really know how to party, and New Year’s in the heart of the South American summer is one of the best times of the year to go partake in the celebration. Spend the next day snacking on some drumstick-shaped coxinhas (fried deliciousness filled with chicken and cheese) or nibble on some pastéis (another little food packages from Heaven, like an empanada but fried and oh so good!). Start the year with a full and happy belly, and probably a few new friends from the evening’s festivities. As they say in Brazil: Feliz Ano Novo, Aquarius!

*Your recommended New Year’s astro-resolution is to keep open to support from friends and beyond, and continue to allow the fruits of your labor to grow. Make sure to give back as often as you can!

Spend New Years Day soaking your hangover away in a geothermal spa in Iceland. (Photo: Chris Ford/Flickr)

New Year’s is always a combo of relaxing and having as much fun and excitement as possible. This week, get yourself to Iceland for a northern adventure to satisfy these needs and to close out your year. Start the festivities off with a bonfire, symbolic of burning away the troubles of the past year, and head into Reykjavik’s town center to party with the locals (heads up: they’re pretty good at this!). Then watch the midnight fireworks compete with the Aurora Borealis’ dance across the Arctic Sky as you ring in 2015. Spend the next day recovering as you soak in the steamy Blue Lagoon, an icy-blue geothermal spa surrounded by black volcanic rock. It is simply stunning, and a perfect way to spend New Year’s Day. As they say in the land of fire and ice: Gleðilegt Nýtt ár! Happy New Year, Pisces!

*Your recommended New Year’s astro-resolution is to work smarter not harder! Step into your career in a new authoritative way, and don’t waste time on things you have moved beyond. Embrace the change!

The Moon in your sign this week is beckoning you to get to a cozy spot for the New Year. What a better place to be than Prague, one of the most charming cities in the Europe. Watch the last sunset of the year on the romantic St. Charles Bridge, then walk through the cobblestone streets towards the gothic Old Town Square (practically untouched since the 10 th century!) where you can sip on mulled wine or locally-brewed pivo while you decide which underground jazz club you’ll enjoy for your New Year’s celebration. As they say in the Czech Republic: Stastný Nový Rok, Aries! Happy New Year!

*Your recommended New Year’s astro-resolution is to explore new philosophies, seeking the support of teachers, texts and travel to help shape your new horizons.

Bundle up for the all-day all-night party in Time’s Square while you wait for the legendary Waterford crystal-covered ball to drop, signaling the start of the New Year for the USA. Give whoever you’re with a nice big smooch as the fireworks explode above Manhattan, then join in as the entire crowd sings “Auld Lang Syne.” Grab some New Year’s Day brunch in the Village, and perhaps a little sip of the hair of the dog to set you straight. The Moon enters your sign this week, making you even more fun, gregarious Gemini, and just in time for your Tokyo New Year! Even though the Japanese typically spend New Year’s Eve at home with family, there will still be a sea of party-goers gathered in the trendy Shibuya center when the clock strikes midnight and fireworks light up the sky. Then join your friends for a night of nomihodai (literally “all you can drink”), probably some karaoke (yes, it’s tons of fun!), and definitely a yummy donburi rice bowl at some point to balance out the other parts of the evening. The next day, find your way over to Meiji Temple as you join in the First of the Year tradition of visiting the temple. As they say in Japan: Akemashite Omedetô Gozaimasu!

Spending New Years in Paris? Be sure to catch the stunning Eiffel Tower light show. (Photo: Neil Page/Flickr)

The nostalgic Moon enters your sign this week, making you yearn for your karmic home to welcome in 2015. Find yourself in Paris, where you can gather with fellow Francophiles along the generously lit Champs-Élysées, with a bottle of bubbly in hand, to watch the Eiffel Tower light show that goes on at the stroke of midnight. Then spend the next day nibbling on freshly-made-to-order crèpes (the crème de la crème of street!), and skating at the rink in front of the Hôtel de Ville, Paris’ stunning City Hall right in the heart of the city. It’s already a good year! Bonne Année, Cancer!

*Your recommended New Year’s astro-resolution is to honor your personal practices by setting aside time for your body-mind-soul. The key is to be practical and be consistent; you will see progress if you keep things simple!

Celebrate the island way this year as you head to Nassau in the Bahamas to dance alongside the super colorful Mardi Gras-like “Junkanoo” street parade, beginning New Year’s Eve and lasting well into New Year’s Day. This is the ultimate party, where everyone spills into the streets and joins in the music, dancing, eating and drinking as it moves along – a dramatic way to welcome the in the New Year. Watch the fireworks light up the Bahamian sky and then it’s back to that mobile party; the Junkanoo celebration literally lasts all night long! Since you probably didn’t manage to sleep at all, you’ll need to spend New Year’s Day recovering on the pink sands of the Bahamas, nibbling on some conch fritters and sipping on a (hydrating!) coconut. Happy New Year, Leo!

*Your recommended New Year’s astro-resolution is to embrace the new stage you are on. Allow yourself to be seen as the authority you are becoming!

Go four-wheeling over the epic sand dunes in Huacachina, Peru. (Photo: Bisual Studio/Stocksy)

This week, journey to Huacachina, a real oasis city in the desert complete with a blue lagoon right in the middle of massive sand dunes of Peru. This is the place in the world to get behind the wheel of a dune buggy for an adrenaline-fueled drive. Or strap on a sandboard and check out the local slopes this oasis has to offer. For some more unusual adventure, hop into a helicopter for an aerial view of the spectacular Nazca Lines, huge geoglyphs of unknown origin etched into the desert dating back in 400 AD. Then witness the final sunset of the year from atop the mountainous dunes, and say Feliz Año Nuevo to everyone around you! Happy New Year, Virgo!

*Your recommended New Year’s astro-resolution is to focus on being solid in your heart. Keep your boundaries strong, but don’t close doors to new possibilities in love, old and new relationships alike.

Spend this week the “Will and Kate” way as you head to London for one of the biggest parties in Europe. Revel in the view from the top of London’s Eye where the spectacular pyrotechnics above the Thames will light up the night sky and magically bring the city even more to life. Or board one of the many river cruises to celebrate in front of Big Ben as it strikes the end of 2014 and the beginning of 2015. And of course, join in the massive sing-along of “Auld Lang Syne,” written by a Scotsman just a few hundred miles north of London in Edinburgh. The next day, nibble on some “takeaway” fish and chips as you march alongside the annual New Year’s Day Parade. Happy New Year, Libra!

*Your recommended New Year’s astro-resolution is to become a master of your free time. Be realistic with how much you can do in a day!

The Athens New Years Eve experience, complete with fireworks above the Parthenon. (Photo: Yannis Kontos/Sygma/Corbis)

This year, journey to the ancient world to ring in the future. Head to the trendy Gazi district of Athens for a gnostimo (delicious!) meal of Greek classics with a modern twist, washing it down with a Mythos beer (named for the Gods, of course), and followed by a simple plate of fresh and crunchy pomegranate seeds. Typically the food of death and rebirth (as your sign will appreciate), the pomegranate is a New Year’s symbol of prosperity and fertility in Greece and can be seen everywhere this time of year. Top off the night with fireworks above the illuminated Parthenon, and you have a wonderful start to 2015! Kali Chronia, Scorpio!

*Your recommended New Year’s astro-resolution is to allow any fears to drop away. Focus on financial grounding, but more importantly on building confidence as this is the true root of all financial success.

This year, Sagittarius, join the mindful and mystical in Meath, Ireland for a Shamanic festival to celebrate the end of one year and the beginning of another. Take part in a drumming circle, dance by the bonfire, and walk on hot coals as you transcend your current state and enter another on this sacred night. End the evening with a group meditation, focusing on peace and light for all beings. Take New Year’s Day to continue the trance of the previous evening on a visit to Brú na Bóinne, the largest megalithic site in Europe which dates back to 35 th century BC, predating the pyramids and built with the same mathematical and astronomical precision. A very different and wonderful way to welcome in 2015, indeed! As they say in Gaelic: Ath Bhliain Faoi Mhaise!

*Your recommended New Year’s astro-resolution is to step up and into the big shoes Saturn has placed before you, as you become the authority you are meant to be. Allow yourself to be recognized as such, while remaining humble and grateful for the hard work you’ve done and the chances you have been given to engage in these growth-promoting opportunities.
