Transgender actress Alexis Arquette, sister of David and Patricia, has died, and her family releases this incredible statement
Today, many are in mourning, as Alexis Arquette has died. Alexis was a trans actress with roles in Last Exit to Brooklyn, Pulp Fiction, and The Wedding Singer, as well as Vh1’s The Surreal Life. She’s also the sister of actors David, Patricia, and Rosanna.
Thank you all for your love and kind words about Alexis. My hero for eternity pic.twitter.com/Z18xLtYTBv

According to People, her family released the following, super moving statement:
“Alexis was a brilliant artist and painter, a singer, an entertainer and an actor. […] Her career was cut short, not by her passing, but by her decision to live her truth and her life as a transgender woman. Despite the fact that there are few parts for trans actors, she refused to play roles that were demeaning or stereotypical. She was a vanguard in the fight for understanding and acceptance for all trans people.”
Wow.
They went on to note, “She fiercely lived her reality in a world where it is dangerous to be a trans person – a world largely unready to accept differences among human beings, and where there is still the ugliness of violence and hostility towards people that we may not understand. ”
They ended their statement with,
“We learned what real bravery is through watching her journey of living as a trans woman. We came to discover the one truth – that love is everything.”
We couldn’t have said it any better ourselves, and we are so incredibly sorry to hear about the passing of this trailblazer. According to E! Online, Alexis’s family asks that people donate to LGBTQ organizations in Alexis’s honor rather than sending gifts. You can read their full statement here.
And here are just some of the reactions from the Internet.
