Tram Riders Get Bird's-Eye View of Hong Kong Human Chain

Protesters in Hong Kong stood side by side to form human chains across the city on August 23, emulating the Baltic Way demonstration on its 30th anniversary.

Videos posted to social media showed hundreds of people, in different parts of Hong Kong, forming chains.

Thousands of accountants marched earlier in the day, carrying signs listing the protesters’ five demands, including the implementation of universal suffrage and an investigation into the use of force by police during previous protests.

Protests in Hong Kong have been ongoing for months, initially prompted by a proposed extradition bill that would allow suspects to be transferred to Mainland China.
