Train hits, kills pedestrian just outside Burbank airport

An Amtrak train hit and killed a pedestrian in North Hollywood on Saturday, officials confirmed.

According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, the person was hit in the area of 6900 Vineland Avenue, which is just outside Hollywood Burbank Airport, around 9:44 a.m. The train, Amtrak Pacific Surfliner Train #770, was headed southbound at the time.

The person, who remains unidentified as of Saturday morning, was pronounced dead shortly after.

The train remained at the scene following the incident. About 150 passengers were aboard, though no other injuries were reported, per fire officials.

No other details were immediately made available, including the circumstances of the collision.
