Train crashes into vehicle stopped on the Calhoun Road railroad tracks, Brookfield police say

A train crashed into a vehicle stopped on railroad tracks Monday afternoon, according to Brookfield police.

The driver survived but was transported to a hospital after sustaining injuries, police said. The incident took place shortly after 3 p.m. on Calhoun Road at the railroad tracks near Pheasant Drive.

Police said an initial investigation revealed that a northbound vehicle was struck by a train traveling eastbound on the southern set of railroad tracks. The vehicle stopped partially on the southern set of tracks to wait for another train to pass on the northern set of tracks, according to police.

Police deferred further comment to Canadian Pacific railway police, which didn't immediately respond for comment Monday evening. The Federal Railroad Administration also didn't immediately respond.
