Trail of blood leads Phoenix Police officers to dead woman inside a home

PHOENIX - A trail of blood led Phoenix Police officers into a home where a dead woman was found on Sunday morning.

Officers were called to a home near 27th Avenue and Indian School Road at around 8:30 a.m. for a welfare check on May 5. When they got to the house, they found blood on the driveway.

Once inside the home, police found 24-year-old Andrea Casarrubias Romero dead from multiple stab wounds.

"Detectives responded to take over the investigation by interviewing witnesses, collecting evidence, and processing the scene," Sgt. Phil Krynsky said. "Preliminary information suggests Casarrubias Romero was assaulted sometime overnight by a known suspect who is currently outstanding."
