Traffic nightmare likely with Phillies, Flyers, Mexico/Germany soccer playing Tuesday in Philly

The Phillies are set to take on the Arizona Diamondbacks at 8:07 p.m. at Citizens Bank Park in game two of the NLCS.

As a result and out of consideration for fans and tailgaters, the Philadelphia Flyers will move up their home game against the Vancouver Canucks to 6 p.m. at the Wells Fargo Center for the team's home opener.

The Flyers-Canucks game was originally scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.

And the friendly soccer match between Mexico and Germany at Lincoln Financial Field has been pushed back to 8 p.m. The match, part of the Mexican National Team U.S. Tour, had an original start time of 7:30 p.m.

Tuesday night is shaping up to be a traffic nightmare, with some accomodations made from the original schedule, for anyone heading to any of those games ... or anywhere else in South Philadelphia tonight.

Here are some options to avoid the jam up.

SEPTA offers free rides to game 2 of the NLCS; how to get to Philly sports complex

Late Monday evening, SEPTA released a statement again urging fans to prepare for traffic congestion while offering free rides, both ways, on its Broad Street Line.

More than 42,000 Phillies fans fill the seats at Citizens Bank Park for Phillies games and the National League Championship Series.

"Fans strongly encouraged to arrive early or take public transportation to all games and events," read a portion of SEPTA's statement. "SEPTA will be offering free rides on the Broad Street Line to and from NRG Station starting at 5 p.m. courtesy of Budweiser and Bud Light as part of Anheuser Busch's safe rides programs."

For those who want to avoid traffic around the sports complex, SEPTA's Broad Street line runs directly into the nest of stadiums. You could drive into the city, park near a subway stop, and hop a train to avoid some hassles.

PATCO did not immediately respond to requests about transit service from New Jersey to the games.

Closest to the stadiums, the Tasker-Morris SEPTA station has a handful of nearby paid parking lots and garages. You could park in the lot at 1301 S. 13th St. or the lot at 15th Street and Washington Avenue. The Philadelphia Parking Authority also maintains a lot 12th and Morris streets in the city and within a five-minute walk to the Tasker-Morris station.

A few blocks north, you could also hop on the Broad Street subway line from the Lombard-South station. Three parking garages are located near the station. You’ll find a parking garage at 1418 South St. A second is located at 627 S. 15th St. A third garage is located at 480 S. Broad St.

All are located within a five-minute walk to the Broad Street line and the night's three big games.
