Palo Alto has plenty of jobs but not much housing under the $1 million mark, so workers who commute in each day create pretty horrendous traffic. The city is spending $500K to explore options for improving the gridlock by growing car-sharing programs and encouraging people to take transit. The city is also considering building a big new parking lot outside the city and offering shuttles to offices downtown. [Silicon Valley Business Journal/Photo via Michael Rymer]
