US stock futures slip as traders eye data, Fed speakers
U.S. stock index futures pointed to a lower open on Friday as traders eyed the release of September manufacturing activity and comments from Fed speakers.
Friday will see the September flash manufacturing PMI released at 9:45 a.m. ET.
Philadelphia Fed President Patrick Harker, Atlanta Fed President Dennis Lockhart and Cleveland Fed President Loretta Mester are scheduled to speak at noon in Philadelphia on a panel about the Fed's role in communities.
Dallas Fed Robert Kaplan is set to speak at 12:30 p.m. ET at the Texas Oil & Gas Association Lone Star Energy Forum.
In oil markets, Brent crude traded at $47.86 a barrel on Friday, up 0.44 percent, while U.S. crude held at $46.27 a barrel, down 0.11 percent.
In Europe, the pan-European Stoxx-600 index (STOXX: .STOXX) was 0.65 percent lower on Friday. In Asia, Japan's Nikkei (Nihon Keizai Shinbun: .N225) closed 0.83 percent lower. In China, the Shanghai Composite (Shanghai Stock Exchange: .SSEC) closed 0.28 percent lower.
