Tractors Clog Valencia as Spanish Farmers Protest EU Regulations and Imports

Spanish farmers used tractors to slow traffic in Valencia on Thursday, February 22, as they continued to protest EU regulations and cheap imports that they say are making it hard to earn a living.

Footage posted to X by farmer Ismael Navarro shows supporters cheering as farmers slowly drive tractors along a street near the port of Valencia. According to 20 minutos, the farmers dumped produce, including almonds, oranges, and wine on Thursday.

Farmers throughout Europe have been protesting for weeks to demand less bureaucracy and a loosening of environmental rules that they say create hardships.

Over 4,000 protesters, including hundreds with tractors, protested in the center of Madrid on Wednesday, according to El Pais. Credit: Ismael Navarro via Storyful
