Tractor-trailer driver injured in Route 24 rollover crash that temporarily closed highway

BROCKTON – A tractor-trailer crashed on Route 24 between Avon and Brockton on Saturday morning, causing both lanes to be temporarily shut down.

About 7 a.m., the tractor-trailer was traveling in the southbound lane when it rolled over. The front half of the truck stayed in the southbound lane blocking traffic, while the back half went over the median, blocking the northbound lane.

The driver of the vehicle was able to get out of the truck before police arrived and was taken to a hospital by Avon police with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

Police from Brockton and Avon responded to the crash. There was a fuel spill as a result of the crash, but Brockton police were able to contain it.

The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection and the Massachusetts Department of Transportation also came to the scene to evaluate the fuel spill.

The cause of the crash is unclear.
