Tractor trailer accident closes I-77 southbound in Mercer County

UPDATE: Tuesday, April 23, 2024 @ 6:30 pm | PRINCETON, WV (WVNS) — I-77 is completely shut down in the southbound direction near mile marker 7.5 due to an earlier tractor trailer rollover.

Traffic is currently being detoured through either Exit 14 (Athens) or Exit 9 (Princeton).

All drivers should avoid taking I-77 for the time being. No time of reopening was released.

PRINCETON, WV (WVNS) — A tractor trailer accident closed part of the southbound lane on I-77 in Mercer County.

According to the East River Volunteer Fire Department, a tractor trailer accident occurred at the 7.4 mile marker on I-77 southbound.

The East River Volunteer Fire Department also stated that the southbound right lane is closed

Any injuries are unknown at this time.
