Toyota Innova Crysta launched in India at Rs 13.84 lakh

Toyota has launched the Innova Crysta in India, today, at Rs 13.84 lakh (ex-showroom New Delhi). The much awaited Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV) boasts of a slew of mechanical and design changes, while being built on a new ladder-frame chassis redesigned for better overall safety.

This new generation model gets many changes to the exterior making it look better than the previous one. It measures 4,735mm in length, 1,830mm in width and 1,795mm in height, making it longer, wider and taller than the old model. Toyota has kept the wheelbase length the same at 2,750mm. However, when you get to what’s inside, you will be amazed to see a host of new features apart from the interior with top-notch quality. On the safety front, you get ABS, EBD and three airbags (dual front and knee airbag) as standard.

The new Innova is being offered in a total of eight trims starting from the entry-level ‘G’, mid variant ‘V’ and top-end ‘Z’. There is a choice of all-new GD powertrains on offer including a 2.4-litre GD, VNT Intercooler and a 2.8-litre GD. The former churns out 146.9bhp of power and 343Nm of torque and comes mated to a five-speed manual gearbox only. The more powerful 2.8-litre unit has an output of 174.5bhp and 360Nm and comes paired to a six-speed automatic transmission. Toyota has made the new GD diesel engines 10 per cent more fuel-efficient than the old diesel powertrain. The ARAI fuel efficiency figure for the 2.4-litre manual is 15.10kmpl and 14.29kmpl for the 2.8-litre automatic.

The global launch of the 2016 Toyota Innova was held on November 23 at the Gaikindo Auto Show in Indonesia. Finally, Toyota Kirloskar Motors has launched the MPV for the Indian market with prices starting from Rs 13.84 lakh to Rs 20.78 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai).
